First BioPreferred Designation for Spray Foam Product

Recently, a new group of spray foam products received a designation that was a first for any product in the industry.

Natural Foams Technology, based in the UK, has developed a new type of foams designed to be sustainable and biodegradable. These products were accepted into the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred® Program, meaning they are now eligible to use that designation in their labelling, and can also be sold in the federal government’s preferred purchasing program.

This is a big milestone in the industry, as these NFT foams are the first polyurethane foams to be accepted into the BioPreferred program. While this is a big boost to the company in allowing it access to expanded purchasing opportunities, it also helps the visibility and positive image of the spray foam market as a whole. Specifically, it helps to illustrate the important role that spray foam can play in promoting sustainability and helping to conserve energy and natural resources.

In order to be considered for the program, spray foams must be comprised of at least 25% bio-based material. The NFT foam more than doubled that composition level, containing 53 percent bio-based material.

No matter what type of spray foam you may use, the right supplies are critical to completing application and installation jobs quickly and efficiently. You can find a wide variety of spray foam equipment and materials at Intech Equipment & Supply.
